International Summer School

Cologne University of Applied Sciences welcomes students from around the world for an intensive and exciting summer school study program every year. The last summer school was held in July and August 2008 with participants from over 20 countries.

Available courses for 2009, are shown below:

a) Sustainable Energy Supply

b) International Terminology Summer School
Institute for Information Management
6-10 July 2009


TSS is a one-week, practice-oriented introductory training course for terminology management.
TSS is for practitioners, students, scientists who are looking for a comprehensive, state-of-the-art introduction to terminology theory and practice.

The participants attending to the International Terminology Summer School 2009 will receive 6 ECTS according to the European Credit Transfer System.

i) GIS - Geographical Information Systems
(August 17 - 21) Introduction to Geo-Information Systems
(August 24 - 28) Advanced GIS Courses


Contact Hrs/ ECTS
Each of the courses consists of 25 contact hours plus homework. Upon successful completion of a course, students receive a certificate indicating the achieved ECTS credits. Depending on the workload of the given homework, it is possible to receive 2 or 3 ECTS.
Tuition Fee
€ 400 / per week and course
Admission Requirements
Students who register for one of the second week's programs should have general knowledge of GIS as taught in the first week (see course schedule).
For all programs, a good working knowledge of Windows as well as a basic understanding of geographical concepts is required.
Without prior knowledge of GIS, it is not recommendable to choose an advanced course without also participating in the introduction week.
