International Summer School in Eichstätt: 20 July - 14 August 2009

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt kindly invites you to attend the 26th International Summer School 2009.

The program is intended for students and professionals in the Humanities, especially in German studies and political science/ economics.

The courses I and II provide an opportunity to improve your knowledge of German, learn about German culture or study contemporary German literature.
Course III (specific program taught in English), and Course IV (specific program taught in German), are designed for those interested in the German language and the political and economic aspects of a globalized Germany and Europe.
All courses are designed for students/ professionals with at least a basic knowledge of German.
For the Literature Class and the specific program of Course IV you need to have an advanced German level.

Participants will receive documentation of credits earned - these credits will transfer according to the regulations of the respective home university.

You can choose out of the following four programs:
Course I - Study German in the Heart of Bavaria (80 hrs)
Intensive German-language course (52 hours) & Cultural Studies (28 hours)
Course II - Cool and Alone: Urban Heroes - German Großstadtliteratur as a Reflection of Modernity (80 hrs)
Intensive German-language course (52 hours) & literature class (28 hours)
Course III - Business and Politics: Germany, Europe and Globalization (92 hrs) - taught in English
Intensive German-language course (52 hours) and classes in political sciences and business administration (40 hours) - language of instruction: ENGLISH
Course IV - Business and Politics: Germany, Europe and Globalization (92 hrs)
Intensive German-language course (52 hours) and classes in political sciences and business administration (40 hours) - language of instruction: GERMAN

Course Fees:
* € 475,- incl. € 130,- registration fee in case of incoming payment before 1 March, 2009 (accommodation not included)
* € 520,- incl. € 130,- registration fee in case of later incoming payment (accommodation not included)

DAAD scholars will receive a rebate of € 80.
The course fee includes free access to internet and library. Health insurance is NOT included.

Supporting Activities:
The course fee also includes a very attractive leisure program such as
- two all-day excursions to famous Bavarian sites with guided tours,
- dancing and acting classes,
- an official welcome reception in the "Spiegelsaal" of the Prince Bishop's residence including a typical Bavarian "Brotzeit",
- a closing banquet,
- film showings and much more.

Scholarships:
Students of Eastern Europe can apply for a Summer School Scholarship. The application has to be sent to BAYHOST (=Bayerisches Hochschulzentrum für Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa) directly. Further information about the application procedure as well as the necessary application forms can be found on the homepage of BAYHOST.

Accommodation:
* € 450,- in a double room (towels and room service not included), breakfast included
* € 590,- in a single room (towels and room service not included), breakfast included
* Low-cost meals are offered in the student cafeteria (Monday - Friday)
