The International Law Students Association will be hosting the 2011 ILSA International Conference in Utrecht, the Netherlands, August 4-6, 2011, in conjunction with the five partner schools of the Transnational Law Program -- Washington University in St. Louis (USA), Utrecht University (Netherlands), University of Trento (Italy), Catholic University of Portugal, and Queens University Belfast (United Kingdom). The conference theme is Public Liability of Private Corporations.

The conference will examine the emerging legal norms that have developed in an attempt to regulate the public activities of private companies and multi-national enterprises, and how both public and private international law regimes have attempted to meet the challenge.

Sub-themes of the conference will include:
Whom do we hold accountable?
What kind of corporations and other business organizations do we hold accountable?
How do we hold corporations accountable?
For what acts or omissions do we hold corporations accountable?

The conference will address issues arising out of human rights abuses committed by multinational enterprises, the increased use of private military and security organizations, and the role of various areas of both public and private international law such as international criminal law, international environmental law, business law, and administrative law.
