How to imagine the cities of the future?

It will take place in Madrid and Barcelona in September 2011.
September 19 and 20 in Madrid, September 21 in Zaragoza, September 22 and 23 in Barcelona, with the purpose to make an analysis and transfer of criteria and
knowledge.

It will be an exchange of ideas and experiences, an open debate among architectural professors in Spain with architects and professors from different Chinese Architecture Schools.

These reflections on architecture will be complemented with lectures about Spanish and Chinese architecture, to students and professionals.

The themes will be:
- Contexts and domains. Artificiality
- Flows and intensity in the 21st-century city
- Linkages and Connectivity. 21st-century city
- New Demands. Forms of Matter. Energy
- Society. Participation, Communication and Impact
- Memory and Evolution after Postmodernism
- Innovation in Architectural Teaching and Learning

During April, May, June and July 2011, an open international competition will
take place among architecture students and architects under 31 years old about
"movements" in the city, with the aim to present strategic proposals on the cities of Hangzhou, Nanjing, Madrid and Barcelona.

The objective of SC2011 is to bring to the fore students, and young architects up to 30 years old, and to publicise and develop their ideas. Its objective is also to help cities and developers, which have provided sites to find innovative architectural and urban solutions for the movements of urban locations.

How to imagine the cities of the future?

The symbiosis, architecture - landscape in the contemporary city will recover its full expression in the 21st century in order to keep away from the naturalness and artificiality.

Thoughts, ideas, thoughts... art built with deployment or testing of formal structures to give arguments for city life in a society of hyperdesign media, exploring the exciting possibilities of the suggestive or unavoidable reference architecture and the environment.

About the Competition
- Competition type
The open competition is single-phase and anonymous.
Architects (architectural teams) may participate in the competition if they meet the following requirements:
- Architects participating in the competition shall be architecture students or architects under 31 years old on the closing date for submission of entries (June 30, 2011).
- Architectural teams participating in the competition shall have at least one architecture student or architect under 31 on the closing date for submission of entries, who will be the team leader.
- Teams may also include young professionals from other disciplines.

Time Schedule
Registration deadline: June 30, 2011
Submission deadline: July 31, 2011
