VIA Summer School 2011
VIA Summer School is a great opportunity for all students to experience a new country during summer time while learning and having fun.
You can attend courses relevant for your career and at the same time enjoy summer holidays with excursions, parties and sports. VIASummer School is international and you will meet and work with people from many different countries.
The courses are mainly on Bachelor level but in some cases it can be also relevant to Masters students too - it depends on your home institution and study programme. Ask us if you have any doubts.
All courses are being evaluated based on passed/failed scale. Attendance is compulsory to pass the course. In order to finish a course with a grade you will have to attend an examination. Based on examination result, the appropriate grade will be given.
5 ECTS points will be awarded on completion of a course.
NOTICE: No tuition fee for EU/EAA students!
Programming Courses
- MOBILE PHONE with ANDROID
Like programming? Do you know the GPS system?
This workshop is both a theoretical and a practical workshop where students will be introduced to programming for mobile phones with Android OS and using GPS.
Cost: None
EU students: No tuition fee.
Other students: DKK 5,000
Prerequisites: Programming for 2 semesters and basic software knowledge
Schedule: 2 weeks. July 4th to July 15th, 2011
- MICRO CONTROLLER SYSTEMS AND SENSORS
This workshop is a practical workshop where the student will build a spinning display from scratch including building the electronics and programming the micro controller controlling the spinning motor and the display. After the workshop students will keep their own display.
Cost: 50 € – for material and components
EU students: No tuition fee.
Other students: DKK 5,000
Prerequisites: Programming for 2 semesters
Schedule: 2 weeks. July 18th to July 29th, 2011
- FIELD PROGRAMMABLE GATE ARRAYS
Are "FPGA" architecture and design flows familiar to you?
This course is a practical workshop where students will be introduced to FPGAs and the design software used to configure/program FPGAs. The workshop will alter between theory and practical exercises and hands-on training.
The students will be introduced to FPGA structures like Xilinx FPGA's "fast-carry" logic, 8x18-bit multipliers and "Blok-RAM".
Cost: None – books can be borrowed from library
EU students: No tuition fee
Other students: DKK 5,000
Prerequisites: Digital Electronics and Programming for 2 semesters
Schedule: 2 weeks. August 1st to August 12th, 2011
The deadline for application is 20 June 2011.
