European Summer School 2009
The European Summer School 2009 (ESS 2009) "TransAtlantic Relations from the Perspective of Central Europe" focuses on similarities and differencies in policies and approaches of the European Union and its member states and the United States of America. The courses will emphasize the particular situations of Central European countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia) and try to answer the question to which extent the division of Old Europe and New Europe remained. Participants of the ESS 200 will learn and discuss the different issues of individual policies.
Courses
Workshop 1: Internal security and issues pertinent to the fight against terrorism
Workshop 2: Transatlantic market and WTO issues, including trade in agricultural products and agricultural policies
Workshop 3: Democracy assistance and promotion worldwide
Workshop 4: EU - US co-operation in the European Neighbourhood
Workshop 5: External security and defence policy
Workshop 6: Energy security and climate change
Eligibility
The programme is intended for students who are currently enrolled in a college or university.
Program costs
The program cost is 760 EUR / 1140 USD.
This fee will cover:
* Tuition
* Reading Materials
* Housing and 2 meals a day (breakfast and lunch)
* Fieldtrips; Cultural and Special Events
