Culture manifests itself in everything human, including everyday business, political, and intellectual life. Cultural values influence negotiations and creativity in the environments where we are forced into the relationship between economics and culture.

This course explores the tension between the world of economics and the world of the arts. Next to introducing participants to the principles of cultural economics, the course pays special attention to the way creativity can contribute to better policy making, entrepreneurship and financing of the arts.

Program
The aim of the Value of Culture program is to connect theoretical and practical conversations. Participants will take part in debates on recent thought in cultural economics and cultural entrepreneurship, and learn from actual cases in the Netherlands and abroad.

- As part of the process participants will learn by interacting with texts, teachers, and each other.
- Participants will be divided into small groups to complete a common project
- The program includes special sessions for professionals in which they will discuss their issues with experts in their fields of interest.

- There will also be tutorials in economics for students who wish to pursue a master with economics as a prerequisite, such as Erasmus Master on “Cultural economics and cultural entrepreneurship”.

Who can apply
- Professionals working for or with private and public cultural institutions
- Lecturers, researches and students who are interested in cultural management, policies and related studies.
- Curious people who would like to now more about the subject

Maximum of 20 students will be admitted.

Cost and accommodation
Professionals: €1600
Students: €850
The fee includes refreshments and materials and excludes accommodation and meals. Meals can be provided on additional costs.

Academic Credits
Participants receive a Certificate for attendance after successful completion of the course. The students can receive 4 ECTS. Those who need academic credit should contacts us beforehand to discuss current school’s requirements.
