Seven days of Sustainable Summer School with Institute without Boundaries and Euregional faculty and international experts. Read the programme and biographies of the faculty to convince yourself of participating in this unique week of Sustainable Summer School. You will tackle three themes that live in cities of the Meuse-Rhine Euregion: water, food and public space.

During the course you will make a 2-day trip to the city that is linked to your case study: Maastricht, Hasselt, Genk or Liège. Guided by experts, you will get insight in very particular problems of this region. Along the way, experts from all kinds of fields and nationalities will advise you. Not to forget the beautiful old mansion, surrounded by nature that will be your home during this seven days of working vacation.

Programme
A short course, aiming to provide participants with new insights via an intensive curriculum in the field of sustainability and design. The programme will have an interdisciplinary design approach.

The IwB faculty will join forces with Euregional lecturers to accompany the participants. The participants will be divided in teams working on the three case studies. Each team is facilitated by IwB and Euregional faculty.

Case studies
Each project team will tackle the challenges faced by the three different regions of the Euregion. Each team will be given a basic design brief and project description and a template to expand and develop their own project design briefs based on the different case study sites and team objectives. Each team will be facilitated by IwB and Euregional faculty.

Three themes will be explored: Public Space, Food and Water. All three will be approached in a site specific context sharing the notion of identity. The results of the workshops are sustainable concepts that answer the needs of three case studies.
- Case study Public Space - Liège (Province of Liège)
- Case study Public Space - Genk (Belgian Limburg)
- Case study Food - Maastricht (Dutch Limburg)
- Case study Water - Hasselt (Belgian Limburg)

Participants
We are looking for enthusiasts from various backgrounds and disciplines. Whether you are a student, designer, philosopher, economist, or any other kind of professional. If you are passionate about sustainability, willing to collaborate with others, open-minded and eager to learn, then register for the Sustainable Summer School.

Fee
The participation fee is €400,-. The fee covers accommodation, course material, meals and drinks, transfers from Diest train station to the Heerlijckyt on arrival, all planned transfers in between and the transfer from the Heerlijckyt to Diest train station on departure. Hidden costs are money for drinks over the week not included in the meals and anything needed additionally, costs for additional public transport from your arrival and to your departure (airport/Diest train station).
