Would you, together with students from around the world, be interested in gaining an insight into how you can help design the future of power grids? Or do you want to learn more about the Danish electricity network, which is unique in an international perspective?

If so, the International Summer School Power 2009 in Denmark is the right thing for you. The Summer School Power 2009 is organised by a number of Danish institutions of higher education in cooperation with companies. It is aimed at engineering students specialising in power, who plan to graduate at B.Sc. or M.Sc. level within the next year.

The Summer School Power will last 19 days and comprises of lectures, cases, presentations by industry representatives and company visits. The goal is to create a realistic industrially related framework for teaching in an international environment.

The Summer School will take place from 9-28 August 2009 at the conference centre "Fuglsøcentret" outside Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city.

Volume in ECTS: 5 ECTS

Topics:
The main topics covered in the course are:
* Problem based and project oriented learning.
* The energy demand and security of power supply
* Power quality issues
* Grid connection requirements and stability issues
* Grid synchronisation and island detection
* The future energy system
* Simulation tools for the future power system

Requirements and Admission
The Summer School welcomes you who:
* are studying to become an engineer - at undergraduate or graduate level
* have a great interest in Electrical Power Systems
* will finish you engineering education within the next year
* have educational competences within Electrical Power Systems

Participation
Is free - sponsored by companies in the electrical power industry together with Aalborg University, Copenhagen University College of Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, University of Southern Denmark and the Engineering College of Aarhus.

Accommodation
The Summer School will take place at Fuglsøcentret, where we will also provide free accommodation from 9-28 August 2009. You will be accommodated in double rooms with another participant. Single room can be reserved, but for an extra charge of app. Dkr. 240/€ 33 per night (19 nights all in all).
