The Actors Temple is delighted to launch our 2009 summer acting course. The 3 Week course is an invaluable resource and opportunity for actors of all ages and experience to study with one of Europe’s most innovative acting companies — run entirely by working professional actors and located in the heart of London’s West End.

Course details
The Actors Temple is an acting school located in London’s West End specialising in The Meisner Technique.

The training has developed from genuine first-hand knowledge of Meisner’s principles and is designed to give acting students a solid base from which to work. With this strong and basic foundation, an actor can confidently approach any material, both in stage and film.

The course open to all (18 years and over) from professional actors to curious novices.

Overview of the course
The 3 week Summer School will begin with the first step in the Meisner Technique: The Repetition exercise. This exercise develops an actor to use his instinct and remain in a moment-to-moment relationship with his working partner.

We then move on to improvisation exercises, where you will fully experience ‘living truthfully under any given imaginary circumstance’.

These exercises all culminate in the rehearsal and playing of a simple scene to a small audience in our studio theatre.

Hours of work

All classes will take place from 10am-2pm each day, Monday to Friday for 3 weeks at our studio theatre on Warren Street. There will also be a theatre outing to see The Shakespeare Globe’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Complete commitment is required from every student.

What to bring
You only need bring yourself.
You will be given a script and assigned an acting partner on the first day you arrive.

Accommodation
There is a variety of quality accommodation within 10 minutes walk of the studio theatre including: Generator Hostel, YHA.
