Any students volunteering?
Hello,
as some of you might know, International Volunteer Day is celebrated on the 5th of December each year...
I am wondering if there are any students here who are active in volunteerism.
If so, I would like to ask if you are aware of any events taking place for that day in the NGO or group you are active in?
Also, it would be nice to know in which field of volunteerism is your team more active in?
Thanks

Re: Any students volunteering?
Hey, this post looks pretty old, but anyways...
Actually, I've never heard that there was a Volunteer Day! Interesting!
Although I've never participated in an organized volunteering program, I 've just started looking for such programs, and particularly in India! Any info welcome!

Re: Any students volunteering?
Hello,
in my country (Greece) there are some things happening that day e.g Many NGOs gather in a central place to educate ppl about volunteering and their projects
Some of them (usually with the Scouts) organize actios, such as planting trees or cleaning streets and parks...
And some others, organize mini workshops and classes to provide skills on specific subjects to interested citizens...
It's like a small fest and I believe that as years pass, more ppl are becoming more conscious and interested on volunteerism!
Personally I do occupy myself with volunteerism, but not as much a I would like too! In the organization I belong to, I take part in health related events, street actions about smoking, diabetes etc...
And lately, I am really thinking to try participating in a volunteering project abroad, probably next year!
Volunteering is great, makes you feel how society should be, hope more ppl would try to spend even a few hours of their week in volunteerism!
