Find more information on the website here.About us
Since 1959, AFS Australia has provided life changing experiences for thousands of people to embark on intercultural programs for a few weeks to a year.
Each year AFS also makes it possible for Australians to welcome and experience the friendship of hundreds of students and adults from over 40 countries around the world as host families.
AFS Australia is registered as a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee and a charitable organisation in New South Wales.
AFS Australia is part of a network of 54 partner countries across the world providing intercultural learning opportunities for over 50 years globally.
Getting Involved with AFS
Community Service
AFS is one of the world’s largest volunteer based not-for-profit organisations. We understand what you wish to gain out of a volunteering experience – life skills, work experience, language skills, develop intercultural understanding and make lifelong friends from across the globe.
Depending on your skills and interests, projects can be as varied as working with endangered turtles on marine reserves in Thailand, on humanitarian projects in the Amazon or with a film crew in South Africa!
University Exchange
This is a perfect program if you are looking to fill your ‘gap’ year by learning a new language, experiencing university life and meeting people from around the world.
Volunteering
Each year over 3000 volunteers across Australia donate their time, talents and energy to make AFS programs happen worldwide.
They are young and old, male and female, studying and teaching, working and retired.
When you become an AFS volunteer you will:
√ be connected to a global network of volunteers, families and communities
√ develop leadership and communication skills
√ gain or improve foreign language skills
√ help enrich your local community
AFS has opportunities in the following teams:
• Airport Meet & Greet
• Community Development
• Fundraising
• Host Family Recruitment
• Host Student Support
• Host Family Support
• Media & Public Relations
• Recruitment & Selection
• Sending Support
• Training & Development
