12th International Youth Day Celebration and Conference
Philippines
3 - 7 August 2011
Join Student and Youth Leaders around the world for an experience of a lifetime!
IYD is a five-day conference aimed to mobilize young people to take concrete actions to end poverty by 2015 as prescribed by the United Nations and the Philippines as signatory to the Millennium Development Goals Campaign. This year’s IYD will take a special focus on the role of volunteerism to achieve the MDG’s.
12th IYD aims to mobilize youth leaders from the student councils, NGOs, the SK Federation and also our International Youths by providing them a venue to enhance their skills in project planning, management, monitoring and implementation using the eight Millennium Development Goals.
Overview
International Youth Day Celebration & Conference will give you the opportunity to test your leadership skills, debate issues, deliver speeches, draft resolutions, make executive decisions, and realize through experience the complexities of life as youths.
This will be the first IYD that will be held outside Metro Manila, the country's capital, for the very reason of localizing and bringing the conference closer to our youths. As the center of the country, Visayas, IYD Delegates are expected to actively participate in number as compared to previous IYD's.
IYD was started in 1999 in Manila, Philippines. It was a fitting tribute to youth volunteers with the theme “The Role of Youth Volunteers in the Promotion of the Culture of Peace and Sustainable Development”, eighty (80) youth leaders from Japan, the Philippines, Brazil, Cambodia, East Timor, Korea, Indonesia, Israel, Thailand, Germany, Myanmar and Vietnam drafted action plans for the regional and national celebration of the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (IDPNCW).
Organizers
UNITED NATIONS YOUTH ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES (UNYAP)
UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES (UNAP)
